Police Officer Recruitment

The Home Office introduced a National police officer recruitment process in 2004 that all 43 forces in England and Wales have now adopted. No matter which force you apply for, all have the same, fair and transparent recruitment process.

Stage 3 - Security Vetting

All individuals who wish to work for the police service are subject to security vetting and financial checks. Guidelines are published by the Home Office regularly which each force should comply with.

Certain convictions and poor financial status will prevent you from joining, however the service is flexible and will consider individual circumstances. Some convictions such as theft, fraud or acts of dishonesty will immediately preclude you. Our Application form guide and checking service will determine your initial suitability based on any convictions/cautions. Financial vetting can only be carried out by forces and thus a decision based on your financial history cannot be provided.

Hi David, just to let you know I have now passed my assessment course. Thanks for all your help and giving me a second chance to benefit from your expertise, as first time round my revision was poor. Anyone reading this take David's course if you really want to pass and make sure you revise all the handouts you are given. Thanks Anthony - received 04/07/10
